The Owners
Wild Escapes was imagined and brought to life by Will Hardy, a passionate designer and expert in sustainable architecture who wanted to create something truly special in the countryside. Drawing on his deep connection to the Hampshire landscape and his talent for thoughtful, nature‑driven design, Will has crafted each treehouse to feel personal, beautiful and uniquely tailored to its setting.
At the heart of Wild Escapes is a love of nature and slow living. The team behind the project carefully integrates each retreat into its environment, using reclaimed and local materials to minimise impact and celebrate the surrounding woods, vineyards and wildlife.
From your very first enquiry, the Wild Escapes team are welcoming and responsive, ready to answer any questions you have about your stay and help you make the most of this peaceful corner of the Hampshire Downs.
Why we love it
Food and Wine: We loved the welcome hamper-it’s such a thoughtful touch. Packed with local produce like fresh sourdough, Fluffetts Farm eggs, milk, jam, crisps, and coffee for the cafetière, plus a bottle of award‑winning Black Chalk English wine from the vineyard. Everything was delicious.
Beautifully Designed Treehouses: Each treehouse has its own personality and feels luxurious. We loved The Fallow, with vineyard views from the bed, an al fresco William Holland bathtub, a cosy wood-burning stove, and a terrace with a barbecue. Every detail has been thought through- even a shelf with a groove for champagne flutes in the bath, courtesy of Will’s carpenters!
The Vineyard Setting: The setting is incredibly peaceful. We found ourselves happily spending whole days at the treehouse, waking to misty mornings over the vines, cooking up a relaxed BBQ on the terrace, sipping Black Chalk in the outdoor bath, and then curling up by the woodburner as the evening drew in. Honestly, it doesn’t get much better than that.
The Setting
Wild Escapes sits within over 1,000 acres of countryside at Fullerton Farm in the Hampshire Downs, surrounded by woodland, wildlife and the vines of Black Chalk Vineyard & Winery. The four treehouses are thoughtfully positioned to make the most of the views, with large windows, outdoor terraces and freestanding baths overlooking the vineyard and rolling landscape.
Despite the peaceful setting, the charming market town of Stockbridge is just a short drive away, known for its independent shops, pubs and cafés. Walkers and cyclists will also love the nearby countryside trails, with both the South Downs National Park and New Forest National Park within easy reach.

Food & Drink
At Wild Escapes, food and drink are part of the experience. Each treehouse comes with a delicious welcome hamper brimming with Colombian coffee for the cafetière, tutti-frutti jam, Fluffetts Farm eggs, milk - you can see the cows milling around from the tree house balcony - crisps and sourdough, plus a bottle of award‑winning Black Chalk English wine from the vineyard that surrounds the treehouses.
If you prefer to cook, the treehouse kitchens have the basics covered, and there are village shops nearby for any extras you might need. For a taste of local produce, head into the nearby village or Stockbridge, where you’ll find delis, greengrocers and traditional butchers perfect for stocking up during your stay.
For eating out, the area around Fullerton Farm and Stockbridge has a bunch of great food spots. The riverside The Mayfly pub is a local favourite for gastro classics and drinks with a view of the River Test. Nearby, you’ll also find cosy pubs like The Peat Spade Inn and The Greyhound, known for their good food and warm local hospitality.
Whether you’re relaxing with a glass of bubbles from the vineyard on your terrace, grilling up local sausages on the BBQ, or heading out for a leisurely lunch at a traditional pub, there’s a great mix of food and drink to enjoy during your stay.
Our Notes (tips)
"Make the most of the treehouse. Although there’s plenty to explore nearby, this is one of those places where slowing down and enjoying the setting is part of the experience. Start the day with a lie-in, waking up to misty morning views over the vines. Later, cook a relaxed lunch or fire up the BBQ on the terrace as the sun sets. A glass of wine in the outdoor bath while stargazing is a must, before cosying up by the woodburner.
Spend an afternoon at Black Chalk Vineyard & Winery, just a short walk from the treehouses. You can book a guided vineyard and winery tour followed by a tasting and a relaxed lunch of cheeses, charcuterie and River Test smoked trout. If you’d rather stay in, private wine tastings can even be arranged at your treehouse.
Although breakfast is taken care of with your welcome hamper, you can pop to the village shop for essential supplies and into Stockbridge for more sustainable options. You'll fine the much-loved Thyme and Tides deli which serves the village with everything from handmade chilli jam, truffle oil hunted round the corner in Hampshire and slabs of rocky road. We wouldn't suggest doing a full-blown shop here (it's pricey) but popping in for coffee and cake is advised. Stock up on veg at Becky's greengrocers and grab BBQ supplies from John Robinson Butchers - the pork, apple and onion sausages are particularly good.
For a pub lunch or evening drink, walk to The Mayfly, which has one of the best beer gardens around. In summer, sit outside by the River Test and watch the trout leaping while enjoying classic pub dishes. The Greyhound on the Test and The Peat Spade Inn are also great nearby options.
Furry friends are treated like the kings and queens here. Some tree houses have their own private doggie parlours equipped with beds and bowls so you needn't worry about doggy daycare.
