Scandi Style Garden Suite

Overview

This beautifully renovated one-bedroom garden apartment sits in the heart of Redland, one of Bristol’s most sought-after neighbourhoods. Designed in a relaxed Scandi style, the flat pairs elegant oak parquet flooring with soft, natural furnishings to create a calm and comfortable space to stay.

Inside, there’s a spacious kitchen and living room and a generous double bedroom with a modern en suite. Step outside and you’re moments from the buzz of Whiteladies Road, where artisan coffee shops, lively pubs, and a great selection of restaurants make it an ideal base for exploring Bristol.

The Lemonstays Way

  • Character over corporate, always.

Carefully selected, independent first, and always good value.

  • Design without the price tag

Independent, design-led and chosen on purpose.

  • Independent first

If it’s here, it’s because it feels thoughtful, well run and fairly priced.

  • Small collection

We only include stays we would genuinely recommend to friends.

The Owners

Tom lives in Bristol with his wife and two children and has a real eye for creating beautiful spaces (we can confirm this is very true). This apartment is just one of several thoughtfully designed rentals he manages locally - if you’re curious to see more, check out his Instagram @clifton.lets.

Tom was a fantastic host during our stay- warm, welcoming, and always quick to reply if we had any questions. From booking through to arrival, everything was smooth and easy, which made the whole experience feel very relaxed.

Why we love it

Location:
Bristol is one of our favourite UK cities, if not the favourite. Jack lived here for a year, so I spent many weekends visiting and pretending I lived here too. Tom’s apartment is in a brilliant spot: Redland and nearby Clifton have a relaxed, villagey feel, while the lively city centre is just a short bus ride away. One of the things we love most about Bristol is the food scene- there are so many incredible independent restaurants and cafés, and they’re usually packed with locals. Bristol folk are also a really friendly bunch; it’s just a great city to spend time in.

The Apartment:
We loved the flat itself. It’s beautifully spacious with a relaxed Scandi vibe and lots of natural light. Everything has been thoughtfully put together, and it has everything you could need for a comfortable stay, which makes it feel much more like a home than a typical rental.

The Setting

The apartment is in the heart of Redland, one of Bristol’s coolest neighbourhoods. Known for its leafy streets and beautiful period houses, it has a relaxed, local feel while being just moments from the buzz of Whiteladies Road, packed with excellent cafés, restaurants, bakeries, and lively bars.

Nearby Clifton is well worth exploring, with its elegant Georgian terraces, independent boutiques, cosy pubs, and the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge overlooking the Avon Gorge.

Getting into the city centre is easy too, with regular buses running from Whiteladies Road. In minutes you can reach Bristol’s lively centre, where you’ll find the harbourside, the famous floating harbour wapping wharf, great shopping, galleries, and plenty more restaurants and bars to explore.

The details that matter

- Great nights sleep
- Well equipped kitchen
- Garden apartment
- Spacious dining and living area
- Restaurants/shops/cafes on doorstep

- Free parking available if request permit

Food & Drink

Bristol has one of the best food scenes around. Whiteladies Road, just a few minutes’ walk from the apartment, is packed with incredible cafés, restaurants, and bars.

For a quick breakfast or coffee, wander down the road to Burra, Wild Oats or Hilda. If you’re around on a Saturday morning, the Whiteladies Road Farmers’ Market (8:30am–1pm) is well worth a browse for local produce and delicious treats.

For dinner, there are plenty of great spots nearby. Bosco Pizzeria serves seriously good pizza, KUCH is fantastic for generous Persian platters, and Bravas is a lively local favourite for Spanish tapas. We’ve shared more of our personal Bristol favourites in the Our Notes section.

Of course, if you’d rather stay in for the evening, the apartment’s well-equipped kitchen makes it easy to cook up breakfast or a relaxed dinner at home. Your host, Tom, is also happy to share recommendations and has created his own guidebook for guests.

Our Notes (tips)

Parking:
There are several RingGo parking meters nearby on Lower Redland Road, Elgin Park, and Redland Park which are suitable for overnight stays. If you’re staying longer than one night, Tom has a Permit Card that can be displayed-just request this from him before you arrive.

Clifton:
Clifton is well worth exploring while you’re here. Start with a swim or spa treatment at Clifton Lido (make sure you book ahead), then wander through the pretty village streets for breakfast or coffee- Saffron and East Village Vegan Café are both great. Don’t miss Clifton Observatory, and finish with a drink at The White Lion, one of Bristol’s best pubs, with incredible views of the Clifton Suspension Bridge.

City Centre:
Head into the city centre via Park Street and a visit to Bristol Museum & Art Gallery. From there, wander down to Queen Square and the harbourside, where you’ll find the historic SS Great Britain. Stop for coffee at Ka:Fei, Society Café, Gather Coffee, or Spicer+Cole (a Bristol institution).

For lunch, Wapping Wharf is brilliant, with award-winning restaurants set inside converted shipping containers. Alternatively, St Nicholas Market has some delicious options including our favourite, Matina’s incredible Kurdish naan wraps stuffed with grilled chicken, lamb, or halloumi.

Our favourite dinner spots include Dhamaka for Indian street food, Three Brothers Burgers (the buttermilk chicken Smokey Bro is the best buger in the world), Pizzarova for banging pizza, or The Christmas Steps, a cosy pub with great food. For drinks, try The Library, Gin & Juice, or Same Again for cocktails, or the Left Handed Giant for a pint.

Whiteladies Road:
You’ll almost certainly spend an evening or two on Whiteladies Road, given how close it is to the apartment. It has such a cool vibe. Bosco Pizzeria, KUCH, and Bravas are local favourites, so it’s worth booking ahead.
