FIORI Dolomites Experience Hotel
Overview
Hotel Fiori Dolomites Experience Hotel is a small, family-run hotel and patisserie with a warm alpine feel - natural wood, soft mountain light and views that remind you exactly where you are.
It’s an ideal base for skiing in winter, hiking some of the Dolomites’ most beautiful trails in warmer months, and exploring nearby Cortina d’Ampezzo, before retreating to the hotel’s spa to relax at the end of the day.

We only include stays we would genuinely recommend to friends.
The Owners
The Fiori story began in 1910, when the original village bakery opened its doors and quickly became a local institution. Over generations, the family home slowly evolved around it, growing into the hotel and patisserie it is today.
Now, Valentina, Alessandro and Carlotta continue that tradition. The pastries are made with recipes and techniques passed down through the family, and the hotel is run with that same care.
Why we love it
- Breakfast & picnic: An exceptional breakfast (the best granola bar we’ve seen), with standout pastries from the family patisserie. You can also order a picnic for hikes - we did, and it made every walk better.
- Afternoon spread: Daily pastries, pizza and sweet treats appear each afternoon, followed by a relaxed happy hour for guests.
- Location: A short drive to incredible hikes and the buzz of Cortina.
The Setting
Hotel Fiori Dolomites Experience Hotel sits in the quiet alpine village of San Vito di Cadore, surrounded by dramatic Dolomite peaks. You're only a short drive from Cortina d'Ampezzo - the Dolomites’ most famous resort town, known for its ski heritage, designer boutiques and home of the 2026 Winter Olympics. Hiking trails start close by in summer, while ski slopes are within easy reach in winter.

Food & Drink
Hotel Fiori doesn’t have a traditional restaurant, but food is a highlight of the stay thanks to the family’s patisserie heritage.
Breakfast is exceptional. A buffet of fresh pastries (brioches, krapfens, strudel, apple and Linzer pies), freshly baked bread, coffee, fruit juices, local cheeses and cold cuts, organic eggs and bacon.
For hikes, you can order a packed lunch to take with you which is definitely worth doing. Ours included a sandwich, fruit, a granola mix and the best bit of all, a giant piece of their delicious blueberry pie.
Afternoon snacks appear after a day outdoors: pastries and savoury bites from the patisserie - Sacher torte, wild berry pie, beignets, almond cakes, pizza and more.
Between 6 pm and 9 pm, the space becomes a relaxed happy hour and aperitivo. Cocktails, spritzes, prosecco and a selection of local and international wines are served with bites, a perfect pre or post-dinner treat.
The hotel is also happy to help with restaurant recommendations nearby. There are a few good options in San Vito di Cadore, and a wider choice within a short drive.
Our Notes (tips)
- Load up on breakfasts, you'll need the energy for hiking and you won't be complaining.
- Definitely request a packed lunch everyday. It's good value, delicious and keeps you going on your hikes.
- Make sure you are back in time for afternoon snacks, not one to miss.
- Hire a car to explore the region.
- Our favourite restaurants:
1. Birraria da Bauce- a local chophouse with a winter sports bar vibe. The food was delicious and the portions were hefty. Just be warned, the drinks come in big steins, so a taxi is a good idea.
2. Al Capriolo- the food was great with a fantastic view of the mountains. Equally inside looked like a cosy, traditional setting.
- The hotel has a daily bulletin, with acitvity recommendations. This is worth keeping an eye on as you can find the less touristy hikes this way, some of which ended up being our favourties.
Our favourite hikes (we stayed in summer time).
1. The famous Lago di Sorapis hike (12km, all-day hike). Be prepared, it gets busy so get there early. It is a challenging hike but honestly, the experience and views made it all worth it. We grabbed a drink at the rifugio at the top and ate our packed lunch the hotel provided at the lake before heading back down.
2. Gores de Federa trail (10km round trip). A fun hike, with waterfalls, gorges, and dense forests. Tough up the way up but worth it for a beer at the rifugio halfway.
3. Cinque Torri (1-2 hour hike). Famous for its WWI history, you can still explore the bunkers today which makes for a really interesting walk.
- You will need to book parking in advance for some of the more popular spots, incouding the iconic Tre Cime di Lavaredo hike and Lago di Braies (a beautiful 1-hour loop around the lake).
- An afternoon in Cortina d'Ampezzo is worth it, grab some lunch and explore the town.
